Kathy Mildren (De'ath when living on the island) writes:
'I have today shown my mum your great site on canvey - I thought you might like to know that she recognised one of the photos as her brother, Aubrey Hawkins. It is the fourth photo under The Flood - Flood Photos 1953 heading. He is standing next to a small boat with the back of a woman to the camera. My mum has said that he was in the Navy and came home to help. My mother grew up on Canvey and moved away in 1972 (I was only ten so really only remember the beach, chip shop and St Nicholas as we lived right behind the church). Her brother Aubrey is still living on the island.'
