Roberta Donnan Remembers - Page 10
Roberta Donnan continues..... "c.1937 This photo is enscribed 'Mrs. Brain's Friend Canvey'. I think Mrs Brain was a neighbour in London of my grandparents - they are the man looking up on the beach and the woman asleep beside him. The woman front left must be Mrs. Brains Friend ! It's interesting to note that they had no special beach wear."
"c.1937 Cockneys winkling ! My grandfather William Peacock ( bending over ) his son (my Uncle Bill), and a Mr. Anning. The dog was called Sally. When I found this photo and read the names on the back, I immediately recalled a Mr. Anning who was associated with Canvey. Maybe he lived there. He certainly did not live near us in London or visit our home there."
"It's not only the kids who played on the boats! This is my Mum being helped off an old hulk"
"All good wishes for the future compilation and preservation and documentation of the records of Canvey Island." |
